BREAKING: BILL TO REPEAL FACE ACT INTRODUCED

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Today, Tuesday September 19th, US Representative Chip Roy introduced a bill to repeal the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE). This comes after the shocking conviction of 8 activists in Washington DC for violating the FACE Act. Despite the fact that all activists involved remained non-violent, they were convicted and are now awaiting sentencing in jail. Each of the defendants are facing 11 years in prison.

As of now there are 24 co-signers on Representative Chip Roy’s bill, as well as public support from major Pro-Life organizations including Students for Life Action and Live Action. PAAU has also supported efforts to repeal the FACE act since its inception in October of 2021.

Caroline Taylor Smith, Executive Director of PAAU said, “I am thrilled to be able to share the fruit of our labor in the efforts to repeal the unconstitutional FACE Act. This is a monumental step towards justice for our preborn siblings and Rescuers alike. The FACE Act has been flying under the radar for decades, and only now when it has been truly challenged, has the truth about it come to light. Those fighting to sustain abortion violence and their allies in The White House will never be able to stop the Rescue movement, because Rescue is love, and the preborn have a right to be Rescued. Oppression will always backfire. The truth is Cesare Santangelo commits infanticide, and those working to expose that cannot and will not be silenced, even with the power of the federal government on our heels. The FACE Act must be repealed, and I am proud to stand next to anyone who will support nonviolent means of achieving justice for all.”

PAAU Director of Community Organizing, Kristin Turner, added, “The treatment of these three pro-life Rescuers, along with 5 others who were convicted this August has made it clear that the FACE Act was only ever implemented in order to target Americans with specific views. This move by the US Congress to repeal the FACE Act is a step in the right direction. Currently in the US it is illegal to take our anti-abortion views to their logical conclusion. If a child is being killed you step in non-violently to save them. The same applies to the unborn. The FACE Act was predicated on Roe, it was overturned now FACE must go.”

Elise Ketch, Digital Content Creator for PAAU also noted that “It should not be illegal to save these children. Fetuses are people. When you love a person you Rescue them, Therefore rescue will not stop because of FACE, because you cannot stop love. Rescue is the consistent non-violent response to the horror that we allow to be done to the most vulnerable members of the human family.”

This marks a major turn within the anti-abortion movement. Since its founding, PAAU has promoted and participated in Rescue, lobbied on The Hill to get this bill introduced, met with members of Congress, and loudly called for the repeal of FACE using our innovative social media strategy. Now the world is seeing the culmination of that work in the form of real legislation, support from major pro-life organizations, and a new and inclusive movement to Rescue the unborn.
