National Poetry Month

April is National Poetry Month! As we wrap up the month, we want to share some pieces from talented pro-life activists reflecting on the advocacy, resistance, and empathy that shape our convictions about the truth of our shared human dignity and our unwavering commitment to nonviolence.

Poetry’s power extends beyond art and has long been intertwined into the realms of social justice and civil resistance. Poetry makes visible the struggle and hardship of our experiences in human rights activism. By its very design, poetry epitomizes our mission: enabling the reader, the outsider, to expand their perspective into the view of the subject, the marginalized. Through vivid imagery, rhythmic inflection and poignant transparency, poets create a powerful catalyst for change and affirm our collective humanity. It moves and energizes us, accelerating and sustaining our devotion to change. To create a culture of life, to build pro-life power, we base our foundation in empathy. Through empathy, the complacency and apathy driving the status quo of injustice is challenged.
