Radical Hope Is The Answer
Today marks the third anniversary of the day that Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court, marking a new era in the fight for preborn justice and liberation here in America. Every June 24th, we now celebrate Dobbs Day (named for Dobbs v. Jackson, the case that overturned Roe) as a reminder of what decades of dedicated action can accomplish. Dobbs Day is fundamentally a celebration of radical hope that we will live to see a world beyond abortion.
When we celebrate this monumental victory, we celebrate the dedicated actions of the tens of thousands of activists who came before us, activists who were driven by the radical hope that they could end the abortion genocide.
As someone who entered the pro-life movement only six months before the first Dobbs Day, I am forever grateful for their sacrifices that brought about Roe’s demise. We must remember that we are grounded in work of generations past: tens of thousands of Rescuers who were arrested in the 1980s and 90s, lifelong lobbyists who have daily pressured politicians, thousands of Pregnancy Resource Centers that have helped families choose life, dedicated sidewalk counselors who spend hours outside abortion centers, and so many others.
But Dobbs Day isn’t just about celebrating the past–it’s about continuing the work in pursuit of a future of preborn liberation. The radical hope that grounded pro-life activists of the past is the same radical hope that grounds us in a Post-Roe world. It is a radical hope that compels us to speak out for the preborn and leads us to take action, because there is still work to be done.
Roe’s overturn removed a major barrier to ending abortion, but it was not the pro-life movement’s ultimate victory. Dobbs Day reminds us that the battle is no longer primarily in the courts, it is on the streets–our streets–and we have the power to move the needle towards total preborn liberation everyday.
The Abortion-Industrial Complex (AIC) has already mobilized, winning pro-abortion ballot referendums in 14 states over the past three years, legalizing and expanding abortion access at the state level. There has also been an increase in abortion tourism and abortion-by-mail, where pregnant people are traveling out-of-state for abortions or ordering abortion drugs online.
In the face of continued oppression, radical hope is the answer. Dobbs Day is our statement to the world that no matter how long it takes, we will end the abortion genocide and build a world beyond abortion.
“Everything is temporary, except for hope. Hope is a constant. Hope is not denial; it is defiance. Hope is radical. Hope is audacious. Hope is for dreamers and believers. Hope is an action.” - Devon Blow
Three years after the fall of Roe, we reaffirm our commitment to the preborn: no matter how long it takes, no matter how much we have to sacrifice, no matter how many people forget you, we will never abandon you and we will never stop standing up for you. We know abortion is murder and we will act like it.
On Dobbs Day 2025, I issue a call to every pro-life person to commit to radical hope because radical hope leads to radical action. I challenge every pro-lifer to show up for the preborn, and not just online. Find ways to challenge the AIC’s power, whether small or large.
You can host a ReproShareFair, do culture jamming, get involved in the political process, go sidewalk counseling, or take any number of small actions that build power for the preborn. Organize your local community as a force for preborn liberation and live consistently with your values. You have the ability to do something, so go out and act!
On the third anniversary of Dobbs Day, I am filled with radical hope as I watch courageous young activists like myself begin to step up and lead. There are leaders everywhere and there are so many ways to take action. Now is the time to go forth and act—the preborn need us today!
