LAUREN HANDY RELEASED FROM JAIL

PRO-LIFE RESCUERS LAUREN HANDY AND JOAN ANDREWS BELL RELEASED FROM JAIL

ALEXANDRIA, VA (July 27th, 2022)– Early this morning at approximately 12:40 AM, Rescuers with the Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising  were released from the Alexandria Adult Detention Center after serving 15 of their 30 day sentence.

Lauren Handy and Joan Andrews Bell were charged with level 1 trespassing during their trial on Tuesday, July 12th. These charges were in response to a Pink Rose Rescue that took place on November 16th, 2021.

Before the trial, Lauren Handy, PAAU Director of Activism said: “As a Catholic and Progressive myself, I am compelled by my deeply held beliefs (religious and political) to put my body between the oppressed and the oppressor.”

Joan Andrews Bell stated: “Even with the overturning of Roe v Wade, there is this ongoing injustice to the smallest and weakest among us. The mothers and fathers of these children do not benefit from their death, nor does society. Whenever murder of the innocent is sanctioned by law the whole of society is harmed.”
