PRO-LIFE ACTIVISTS DEMAND ACTION FROM SOUTH CAROLINA LAWMAKERS
COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA—On Monday, April 17th 10:30AM, activists with the Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU) in partnership with Pro-Life GVL, and local life-affirming South Carolinians, will hold a press conference and rally outside the State House to demand that lawmakers in the House and the Senate pass the current anti-abortion legislation before them, respectively, the Human Life Protection Act and the Fetal Heartbeat Protection from Abortion Act.
This week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed his state’s Heartbeat Protection Act, drastically reducing the number of abortions in the Sunshine State. Florida’s new law in effect, South Carolina has now become the most radically pro-abortion red state in America, allowing elective abortion up until 20 weeks gestation.
Founder and Executive Director of PAAU Terrisa Bukovinac says “Every day in South Carolina more than 30 unborn babies will be brutally murdered by abortion. Every lawmaker who campaigned on an anti-abortion platform has an ethical obligation to stop the killing and failure to do so makes them collaborators in a genocide. The time to stop abortion in South Carolina is now.”
With Republicans controlling both chambers in the General Assembly, it is inexcusable that the murder of the unborn continues on a mass scale. Since the State Supreme Court ruling overturning SC’s Heartbeat law, abortions in the state have steadily grown, reaching nearly one thousand abortions per month in the first quarter of this year. That number is only expected to grow as the state becomes the top abortion destination in the South.
Speakers will include:
Terrisa Bukovinac, Founder and Executive Director of PAAU
Catherine Glenn Foster, Former President and CEO of Americans United for Life
Hayden Laye, Founder and President of Pro-Life GVL
Kristin Turner, Executive Director of Pro-Life San Francisco
PAAU Organizer and President of Pro-Life GVL Hayden Laye said “As a South Carolinian I am ashamed and appalled by our legislature’s continued failure to protect preborn persons from abortion. It is now up to us, the people of this great state to ensure our voices are heard. Politicians never see the light until they feel the heat and abortion will end in South Carolina”.
