PRO-LIFE DEMOCRATS & PROGRESSIVES PROTEST THE DNC HEADQUARTERS
Washington, D.C. - Tomorrow, Wednesday, 1/18/23 at 11AM, Democrats for Life of America (DFLA) and Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU) will rally outside the Democratic National Committee headquarters days before the National March for Life, to urge the Party to end abortion extremism and align its platform to match a majority of voters’ viewing on abortion.
The DNC Headquarters is located at 430 South Capitol Street SE, Washington D.C.
“On November 19, 2021, we held a rally outside the DNC headquarters to urge DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison to meet with pro-life Democrats and make the Party more inclusive for us, citing the DNC tagline that we are a big tent party of diversity and inclusion,” said Kristen Day, Executive Director of DFLA. “He never answered our call for ways to further build the Party, and his arrogance is costing us seats. We are delivering a report on the implications of abortion extremism.”
An analysis conducted by DFLA Director of Analytics, J.T. Kopcyznski, shows the number of Party seats lost between 2010 and 2016 919.
“If the Democratic Party and its leadership continue to advance taxpayer funding of abortion and late-term abortions without regulation, the losses will continue,” Day added. “The Party needs pro-life Democrats because it is at risk of further hemorrhaging seats to Republicans because of their unwillingness to be inclusive. It is clear hypocrisy.”
Wednesday’s rally and protest will feature a variety of Democrat and left-leaning activist speakers who insist that the positions on abortion defended and perpetrated by the Democratic Party are extreme, citing the Women’s Health Protection Act, late-term abortions, particularly in D.C., and the two bills, H. Con. Res. 3 and the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which passed in the House last Wednesday.
“Our message for the DNC is loud and clear: Rather than push extreme abortion policy on financially insecure women who represent 75 percent of abortions, we need equity for pregnancy outcomes,” emphasized Day. “This is our org’s goal: to work with Party leaders to support a reasonable compromise on abortion policy and end the era of abortion extremism. A majority of Democrats want to see elective 2nd trimester and late-term abortion more regulated and limited than it is today, and we demand representation. Abortion extremism is not progress.”
DFLA and PAAU, along with their allies, urge the DNC to adjust its harmful positions and policies on abortion and truly embrace inclusive and diverse views of leftists by supporting common-sense life-affirming candidates and legislation.
PAAU founder and executive director Terrisa Bukovinac said, “While we applaud the Democratic Party’s efforts to increase the minimum wage, protect BIPOC, immigrants and LGBTQ+ people, and to limit problematic Republican views and influences. But those efforts do not absolve our Party from its role in perpetuating and expanding the unthinkable genocide of late-term abortion. The Party’s hands are soaked in blood! It is the responsibility of every progressive to demand human rights for these defenseless and sometimes viable children in the name of the values we claim to share: a commitment to human equality, non-violence, and nondiscrimination”.
Both DFLA and PAAU encourage and welcome a constructive dialogue with DNC Chair Jamie Harrison to find common ground and common purpose, and to limit the injustices faced by those targeted for abortion and their parents.
