Welcome, Thomas, summer intern at PAAU!

Hey y'all! My name is Thomas Hill, and I'm excited to be serving as PAAU's summer intern this year! I wanted to kick off this summer by introducing myself and sharing how and why I became involved with PAAU.

I have been actively involved in the pro-life movement for about four years, beginning as a high schooler in my home state of Indiana. I founded and led a Students for Life chapter at my high school, learning how to engage with a hostile pro-choice movement (two pro-choice clubs were founded in response!). After just a few months of running that club, the DC Five were discovered, and their story radicalized me--from that moment on, I knew that nothing was as important as ending the abortion genocide. In the summer of 2022, following the Dobbs decision, I testified before Indiana's legislature in opposition to discriminatory exceptions in a proposed abortion ban. I also worked for multiple years with ProLifeIndy, a social media network dedicated to Indiana-focused pro-life content.

Over the years, I have participated in protests, marches, debates, and advocacy in defense of the preborn across several states and in Washington, DC. Last summer, I traveled with PAAU to protest the RNC's decision to remove pro-life language from their platform. Currently, I am a college student at Liberty University in Virginia, where I lead the Virginia Anti-Abortion Uprising (VAAU), a PAAU affinity group. In this past year, I have organized with VAAU at multiple marches, hosted a Weekend of Action, and spent a lot of time fighting the radical Virginia abortion amendment.

On the personal side, I am a rising junior studying Elementary Education and Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in religion, government, and language. I am a Wesleyan Christian, a lover of books, a competitive swimmer, and I love Mexican food!

I was introduced to PAAU through some friends in Indiana and really started paying attention during Justice for the Five in 2022. I had never seen anything like nonviolent direct action, and the concept of Rescue immediately resonated with me. It just felt right--if I truly believe abortion is murder, my actions have to reflect that! I took the first opportunity I could to get involved with PAAU at the 2024 March for Life, and founded VAAU that February. I am driven by the belief that everyone can and should be pro-life, and PAAU's commitments to coalition-building and radical inclusivity are powerfully aligned with that. Furthermore, PAAU is committed to taking meaningful and intentional action to end the abortion genocide in ways that other pro-life organizations aren't! This unique vision and strategy are why I love PAAU and why I am excited to spend June fighting for preborn liberation in DC and Virginia with them!
