ACTIVISTS DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY FOR ABORTIONIST VIOLATING CONSENT
Washington D.C.—On Tuesday March 21st, activists with the Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU) will gather outside the D.C. Board of Medicine to demand that abortion provider Cesare Santangelo lose his license to dispense medication. This is based on an explosive undercover video showing his staff requiring a late-term abortion seeker to ingest two Xanax pills prior to their patient consultation.
The undercover video released by Live Action in 2022, captures an undercover investigator 27 weeks pregnant posing as an abortion seeker. The abortion worker informs the investigator that she may not speak with the abortionist about the details of the procedure before taking multiple Xanax tablets.
A report was filed in June of 2022 with the D.C. Board of Medicine demanding answers for this breach of ethics surrounding informed consent. Santangelo is facing additional malpractice lawsuits including one death of a patient by uterine perforation and a lawsuit filed in August 2022 in which a patient alleges she was denied informed consent when Santangelo charged her for a 23 week abortion when in fact her baby was already deceased.
On March 25th 2022 PAAU activists intercepted a box labeled “medical waste” outside Santangelo’s abortion business. Inside the box were the remains of 115 aborted babies including five past the age of viability. Three of those babies showed wounds consistent with violations of federal law including the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act. The remains of the five are still in the position of the DC Medical Examiner yet no autopsy has yet been conducted.
Terrisa Bukovinac, PAAU founder and executive director said “The DC Board of Medicine is conspiring with Mayor Bowser and the DCPD to cover up the gross medical misconduct of a killer in order to protect their own political careers. This is the opposite of leadership and justice. We will not give up until Santangelo is held to account and the people facing pregnancy decisions in DC are no longer prey to criminals like him”
